I purchased this magazine rack to stand next to my piano and hold my piano music books. This piece is sturdy and good for this particular use. The glass top shelf offers good space for my coffee cup, metronome and clock. The rack can have a more "classic" versus "contemporary" look depending on what is placed on the glass shelf. The rack does not look cheap although one wouldn't be fooled into thinking it is a "high-end" piece either. I think it is a pretty good value and would not hesitate to recommend it.
